  The Sri Lanka Thailand Business Council (SLTBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT) in Bangkok in February 2019.

  The Sri Lanka Thailand Business Council (SLTBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the   Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand (BOT) in  Bangkok in February 2019. Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, and Mr. Rizan Nazeer, President of the Sri Lanka Thailand Business Council, signed the MOU in the presence of Mrs. Kshenuka Seneviratne, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, and Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, with the presence of Thai Board of Trade members and SLTBC executive members.<br />
  The BOT  was  established in 1933 to act as a coordinator between the Government and private sector to promote trade and protect the interests of the country. SLTBC was established 22 years ago as the focal point for the Sri Lankan businessmen to promote trade, investments and tourism between Thailand and Sri Lanka. It is affiliated to federation of chambers of commerce and industry of Sri Lanka ( FCCISL) and  an incorporated body with more than 100 active corporate members.<br />
  At present Thailand is Sri Lanka’s 36th export destination and 9th largest import destination. This MOU is expected to further strengthen the trade between two countries. <br />

  The Eastern and Northeastern parts of Sri Lanka are highly vulnerable to cyclones

  The Eastern and Northeastern parts of Sri Lanka are highly vulnerable to cyclones that develop in the Bay of Bengal during the months of November and December. The North central and Northwestern partshave also been affected by the cyclones but to a lesser degree. The Department of Meteorology under the purview of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights, was mandated to issue warnings in the case of cyclones.

  The WesternRegion Megapolis Development Plan

  The Western Region MegapolisDevelopment Plan, also called Western Region Megapolis Planning Project(WRMPP), is a urban planning, zoning and development project aimed at creating a Megapolis in the Western Province of Sri Lanka by 2030 , which would help address the issues of waste management, traffic congestion, slums and environmental pollution. This project is intended to build a Megacity that matches other well-known economic hubs such as Dubai,Singapore,Seoul and Tokyo.   Colombo Lotus Tower

  The Lotus Tower (Colombo Lotus Tower) is a tower under construction with a height of 350 meters, located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. When completed, the tower will be the tallest building in South Asia. The lotus-shaped tower will be used for communication, observation and other leisure facilities, with construction costing $104.3 million, funded by EXIM Bank of Peoples' Republic of China. It currently stands at 255 m and is visible throughout Colombo, its suburbs and most major highways.

  One-Galle Face by Shangri-La

  One Galle Face is Colombo's first internationally developed integrated lifestyle destination that makes living, working, entertainment and hospitality possible all in one location. Hong Kong's leisure entity Shanri-La Hotels and Resorts foresees the completion of this project by 2018 with a hefty investment of over US$ 600 million. The twin towers will be used for residence, which consist of 50 floors each, 16 penthouses and 8 duplex and simplex units. The target market is expatriates, international investors and the expanding population of Sri Lanka.
