(SHADA: TEHRAN) - An official with the Organisation for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OEITAI) said the country’s foreign direct investment inflows have amounted to 3 billion dollars from 1.6 billion dollars two years ago, witnessing an 86-percent growth over the period.

Managing Director of OIETAI’s Foreign Investments Department Saman Ghasemi noted that the figure grew by 20 percent in the past Iranian year (ending on March 20, 2011) to stand at 3.7 billion dollars.

Referring to the figures released by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), he went on to describe Iran as one of top 10 destinations in the Middle East for FDI inflows.

Islamic Republic of Iran, he added, has enjoyed a stable growth in its FDI inflows while the figure has declined in the neighbouring countries in recent years.

"The figures show that the sanctions imposed against Iran has failed to affect the country’s FDI inflows,” Ghasemi observed.
