The working hours of offices, including post offices, in Sri Lanka is usually from Monday to Friday, at 8.00am - 5.00pm. Some businesses also open until about 01.00pm on Saturday. Shops normally open from 10.00 am to 07.00 pm weekdays, and until 03.00 pm on Saturday. Businesses run by Muslims may take an extended lunch break on Friday, so thatthe staff can attend Friday prayers. Banks are generally open from 09.00 am to 3.00 pm on weekdays; although, some banks are open on Saturday. However, there are some selected branches of commercial banks, which are open for transactions until 06.00pm, while 365-day service branches are also available.
