The 2nd Economic Seminar in Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR
On 2 June 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy, Vientiane and the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Savannakhet, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the authorities of Champasak Province, jointly organized the 2nd Economic Seminar under the theme “Strengthening Local Products for the Global Market.”
The event was held in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Lao PDR. H.E. Mr. Malaithong Kommasith,
Minister of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR, and H.E. Mr. Alounxay Sounnalath, the Governor of Champasak Province, kindly participated the Seminar throughout the two sessions.
The seminar had two main sessions: (1) Strategies for Promoting Agricultural Production through Cooperatives (2) Best Practices and Innovative Approaches to the Development of Local Products and Services.
The event featured distinguished speakers and practitioners from various sectors, including:
(1) Department of Cooperative Promotion, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand
(2) Kantharalak Fruit and Vegetable Growers Cooperative Ltd., Sisaket Province
(3) Cocoa Farmers Group, Ubon Ratchathani Province
(4) “Srisangdao Rice” brand and the Srisangdao Development Project, Nahyod Village, Roi Et Province
(5) Trade Policy and Strategy Office, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand
(6) “Thaidet” Project, PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR)
(7) “MeKin Farm,” Khon Kaen Province
And (8 ) “Salete” brand, Khon Kaen Province
This second seminar in the series of Economic Seminars served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and sharing experience related to agricultural production, successful business models, cooperative mechanism, and the advancement of local products toward international markets. The forum aimed to promote collaboration, enhance productivity, and support sustainable economic development through community-based and cooperative enterprises.
The seminar was well received by over 120 attendees from both Thai and Lao public and private sectors, reflecting the strong commitment of both countries to strengthening economic ties and people-to-people cooperation.
